New to Golf? Start Here

If you have friends who play golf and you’d love to join their fun out on the course but it all seems too intimidating. This is where to start.

STEP 1. VIDEO COURSE – WHAT BEGINNERS NEED TO KNOW

Start with Cindy Miller’s six-lesson beginner’s course covering the answers to questions that you may have in your mind but have been reluctant to ask.

Lessons include What You Find on a Golf Course, The Format of Golf, and Arriving at the Golf Course. I think you will love Cindy’s easy-going and clear instructions – she has a wealth of experience as a teacher, LPGA player, and now Legends Tour regular.

When you’ve watched this course, it’s time to move on to Cindy’s other video course for those new to the game – her 10 lesson Guide to Golf Equipment for Beginners.

STEP 2. ADVICE TO NEW WOMEN GOLFERS

Welcome to Golf says Nancy Berkley as part of her 7 step introduction for new players starting with a “Tour of the Course” Lesson.

The next step is Nancy Berkley’s excellent ‘Advice for New Women Golfers‘. As Nancy says ” If you want to learn to play golf, it can be overwhelming. I reviewed many websites advertised for “new” golfers, and they all assume too much knowledge. Although I am not a professional golf instructor, as a former educator, I understand the art of teaching.”

STEP 3. GOLF FUNDAMENTALS STARTER COURSE

The next step is browsing through Nathalie Filler’s Golf Fundamentals course. It’s 18 short video lessons covering the basics of all the different parts of the game – driving, fairway shots, pitching and chipping, and of course putting on the greens. Nathalie is an engaging and professional presenter and I think most golfers (not just newbies) will get lots of tips from watching these videos.
