Libby Kilbride – Renishaw Park Golf Club

Women’s golf is not just about the stars of the LPGA and LET. We really like to highlight the regular players and fans of the game, particularly the girls and young women who are just starting out on a lifetime of golf.
Libby Kilbride – Renishaw Park Golf Club

Inspired by Seve, 12 year old Libby Kilbride plays to a handicap of 7.8 and is coached by Lee Owen at the Moorview Golf Centre in Sheffield, England.

Libby, you look very young in that photo. How old were you when you started to play golf?
I started having an interest in golf when I was about four years old. My dad played golf, and after I got to go to the range a couple of times and saw him hit shots, I wanted a little club of my own. I have been a member at Renishaw Park Golf Club (my home club) since I was 8 years old and I also currently play at Dore and Totley Golf Club.

What do you love about golf?I love going out and practicing every evening and at the weekend, knowing this is what I want to do for a living, this is my dream. I wouldn’t be working as hard as I do if I didn’t have a passion for golf. You’ve got to have determination to succeed. Who is your favourite player and why?My favourite golfer is Seve Ballesteros. I bought the Seve Movie recently, and whenever I watch it, I get inspired by his determination, his dedication and his passion to fulfill his dream. He is simply a great golfing legend and inspirational to all young golfers. Thank you Libby, you have done very well to get to such a good handicap at your age and we can see how much you enjoy the game. Good luck with your golfing dreams and remember to keep listening to your coach. We met Libby when she and her father followed womensgolf.com online.
